Dennis Kurun

Dennis Kurun Camilleri LLCM, FLCM, FTCL, LRSM

Dennis, widely known as Kurun, embarked on his musical journey at the age of 11 when he began playing the baritone. His passion for music deepened over time, and he pursued formal studies under the guidance of renowned musician Paul Borg.

In 1994, Dennis graduated from the London College of Music with an LLCM in baritone performance. Two years later, in 1996, he earned the prestigious FLCM from the same institution. His dedication to his craft led him to further success, and in 1997, he obtained the FTCL from Trinity College of Music.

Professionally, Dennis is a trombonist and has held the position of second trombone in the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra since 2000. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous masterclasses led by international artists, further honing his skills. In 2005, Dennis achieved another milestone by earning the LRSM from the Royal Schools of Music, this time in trombone performance. Later, in 2016, Dennis successfully achieved the teacher’s warrant. As a baritone soloist, Kurun has performed in numerous recitals with piano accompaniment. He is a member of the International Trombone Association (ITA) and has attended the International Trombone Festival (ITF) in Birmingham, where he had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with many world-renowned trombonists. Currently, Dennis remains also an active participant in the music scene, performing with various local wind and big bands.

Beyond performance, Dennis has spent years experimenting with hundreds of different mouthpieces, acquiring extensive knowledge in the field. His collaboration with Gilbert resulted in the creation of the renowned K&G Mouthpieces, a brand that has since become one of the leading names worldwide. K&G Mouthpieces are played by top international artists and are stocked by over 30 dealers globally. K&G Mouthpieces have been showcased at numerous prestigious ITF exhibitions, including the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) in Paris (2012), the Conservatorio Superior de Música Joaquín Rodrigo in Valencia, Spain (2015), and The Juilliard School in New York City (2016).
